Family History
DESCENDANTS OF PATRICK MANLEY OF CROCKAWADDY GLEBE, FERMANAGH COUNTY, NORTHERN IRELAND
Note: This is the first recorded Manley in my line that I have been able to find in Fermanagh records (Flax Growers Lists), although Manley’s did come with Cromwell’s army earlier or were sent to Northern Ireland from England as political prisoners by Crommwell because they were Royalists. Although of Norman heritage, they stayed and incorperated into the Irish way of life.
A “Glebe” is a Medieval term for land and property owned by the Church , in this case Church of Ireland, so for many years the Manley’s of Crockawaddy Glebe rented their parcel of land before they could afford to buy it. – Helen M. Manley 2006
